1/16/2024 0 Comments Lavender tabby cat![]() I'd hate to think that there might be something wrong that I'm missing that would be causing her discomfort. I think I'll get her checked out at the vet. I think it's definitely where she is able to lick. Unfortunately, over time he did end up losing every single tooth in his head - but he gained some weight afterwards, and now at 14 years of age - he is still the sweet handsome boy I fell in love with!!! After a thorough exam, and removal of some bad teeth and the passage of time - he is now back to his lovely dove gray color everywhere. It was the places where he directly used his tongue to wash himself that were red. Down the middle of his back and on areas where they paw wash - he was his normal gray self. I had mentioned his fur change to his vet and she pointed out that on both sides of his belly - where he could reach to wash himself - the fur was different colored. Urned out - he had a bunch of bad teeth and something in his saliva was causing his fur to change color. I will keep that in mind if I see any changes in my furry family. Now, three years later, her dear old eyes look like road maps. This was taken 2010 in our cat-safe yard before moving where we are now without one. She sends hugs for the compliments from all! The fluffy one above was taken three months after the adoption so you could see the quick change. Hard to believe she is 22 - she barely looks like her kitten picture. ![]() Unfortunately, over time he did end up losing every single tooth in his head - but he gained some weight afterwards, and now at 14 years of age - he is still the sweet handsome boy I fell in love with!!!īTW, Sun Dance - your baby girl is beautiful. Turned out - he had a bunch of bad teeth and something in his saliva was causing his fur to change color. I thought it was from sun - where he laid in the sun in the sunroom almost every day - snoozing for hours. My short-haired gray man, Smokey, who is gray everywhere - even nose leather, toe pads, and whiskers - developed a brownish red hue to the fur on his sides a few years ago. Off topic a little but I had a betta change from pale lavender to royal blue and found that is normal with fishy diet and happiness. Now with her 22 years, she's back to looking more grey than brown. She zipped quickly into a long hair brown/white kitty. I adopted what I thought was a short hair cat with grey/white hair. At nine months, they usually look the way they're gonna look except for getting a little bigger. She's the only kitty I've had that has had such a stunning change. Here's the difference in her looks in three months. I adopted my old girl when she was nine months old. I've seen a better diet improve a cat's color. She now does have a cat tree where she suns ALL day, but she typically was in the sun for the time period when she was an outside feral so thinking it's not sun bleaching? Or would the diet change contribute? Wondering if it's perhaps the diet change. Originally a dark grey striped tabby, she's developed a reddish brown hue in her darker stripes. One thing I've noticed is that she's changing color dramatically. She's now on Science diet and Fancy Feast. Since coming in she's had a complete change in diet I'm sure. She used to live under a dumpster till I brought her home. I have a rescue that I've had for a few months. Anyone have any experience with a cat changing colors?
